Goodbye Mr Neal!

I know this isnt quite the "hidden message" I promised you, but you spend enough time avoiding the limelight! Thank you Neal Ford, for all your hard work and willingness to pitch in regardless of the task. Thanks for your patience and sense of humour, for quietly and unassumingly making everyone's load a little lighter, for uncomplainingly giving the best of yourself every single day. And more importantly, thank you for the late night chats, appreciating the wonder that is Bewitched, bringing lego music videos into my life-and the cake. :)

Its one of the things that sucks about being a long term volunteer here: you meet all these amazing people and then they have to go.But to all the people Ive taught with- Khim, Hanni, PC, Neal, Becca-its been so cool working with such dedicated, fun people. You guys see a small piece of the picture, then you go home and we reap the benefits of your hard work. So thanks guys, we dont forget you!

Sarah, Becca, Neal, Lizzie, Nicola, Lydia, Cherry,Hanni, PC, Emma,  Rachel,Erica, Lori, Dianne, Matt, Jess, Laura,Julia, Elaine, Viv, Zan, Sophie, Anna Marie, Rachel Bee, Cheryl, Rebecca, Amanda, Khim, and all the guys who will leave before me- thank you. Its been good. :)

  1. I'm not really one for exclamations of love in public settings but feel there needs to be some retaliation!!
Miriam - you are an amazing young woman. You have an undoubted natural ability with working with children of all ages. What impressed me most was your attitude and values on how not just to work with children but to get the most out of them, treat everyone of them as an important individual in their own right and always to give an explanation and reason for everything you are challenged on or asked about by them. For all of us volunteers who had no teaching background you were always available to help, guide and use as a resource to help us with our trials and tribulations in the classrooms - for that, i think i can speak on behalf of everyone in saying thankyou.
On a personal level, you will never know how much it meant to me to be able to chat with you about our common experiences and upbringings. You have taught me how to be confident in myself and my own beliefs and how to live my life in the best way possible.
I know it must be difficult as a long term volunteer seeing people come and go - but it underlines my belief that you guys are the heart and soul of the project. Its you who hold the whole thing together and provide the continuity at the schools and the support for the other volunteers.
You're doing a fantastic job and i honestly hope to see you again at some point in the future - whether that's in Ireland, England, Kenya the Amazon or anywhere else!!
Take care and remember to wear your colourful sunhat..
